View Foscam Live on the Internet – Setting Up Port Forwarding On Your Airport Extreme or Time Capsule (For Apple Mac/Macintosh)

Setting Up Port Forwarding On Your Airport Extreme or Time Capsule (For Apple Mac/Macintosh) for the Foscam FI8908W and the FI804W

Here are the settings for setting up portforwarding to view your Foscam Camera Live on the Internet if you have a Mac Airport Extreme Router or Time Capsule:

1.Open Airport Utility: Applications > Utilities > Airport Utility
2. Locate your device in the left-hand column and select the “Manual Setup” button
3.Click the “Advanced” gear at the top of the window
4. Click the “IPv6 Firewall” tab
5. Click the “+” to add a new rule
6. A window will pop up, enter the following:

Description: Enter whatever you want
IPv6 Address: Enter the IP address of the camera (This is the local address of the camera that will usually start with 192.168.*.*). You can find this in IP Camera Tools or IP Scanner (see other blog posts on basic setup)
TCP Port(s): Enter in the port number you want to forward (The default for Foscam is to leave this at 80 – however note that some ISPs block port 80 and you may have to change the setting on the camera)
UDP Port(s): Enter in the port number you want to forward (Same port as the TCP Port – i.e., set it at 80 for default Foscam settings)

You should be done. Go to whatismyip.com and get your external internet ip address. Then type that IP address into your browswer and it should work via the internet. If your IP is dynamic you can set up DDNS to automatically update it to yourname.dyndns.org. I will write a tutorial on that later.

If you have any questions pleaes let me know. Thanks

If you have Windows or any other type of Router (Belkin, D-Link, Lynksys, etc) use the instructions here

Best,

I can’t get this to work for the life of me….I’ve been working on this for 7 hours.

First of all, step #4 “IPv6 Firewall” doesn’t exist unless you change the “IPv6″ to either “tunnel” or “host.” The above doesn’t state which to switch it to or how it effects the wireless network.

Also, there are no IP address as specific as indicated throughout this website for Airport Extreme and Time Capsule…it’s 10.0.1.1, 10.0.1.1, 10.0.1.2, and so on…

Yes, I can connect to my camera using 10.0.1.6 (I have 5 other wireless devices), but the last number changes depending upon which devices connects to the router first.

Furthermore, the external IP address changes…although it has not changed in the past 7 hours, my DynDNS account is not redirecting….

    Nothing is working!

The IPv6 tab does not have a “=” option.
